And she’s down! Knocked out by colds and allergic rhinitis, with a runny nose, teary eyes, and coughing fits so intense it feels like her lungs might give out—she had no choice but to call in sick today.
She is me. I am her.
My immune system probably took a hit from the whirlwind of trainings, classes, work, and family obligations last week. I found myself juggling a 1,500-word essay, another three-page essay, and time-intensive WHONET exercises that demand a great deal of patience. On top of that, I had to teach someone how to use the WHONET application and care for my great aunt who had just been discharged from the hospital after a week in the ICU. And the heat—what’s with that? Has the Philippines turned into an autoclave?
I’ve been under the weather since Monday but pressed on with work because of the mountain of paperwork, deliveries to oversee, and applicants to interview. Everyone who saw me—and heard my hoarse voice—advised me to go home, noting how visibly ill I appeared. Heeding their concern, I consulted a pulmonologist and began medication last night. My colleagues reassured me they could handle their tasks—and mine—so I could take the needed time to recover. Their support fills me with joy. I am proud of them :')
A Gentle Reminder for Self-Care Amidst Life’s Hustle
Posting this as a gentle nudge to prioritize your overall well-being. I didn’t anticipate my tasks overlapping, leaving me no choice but to tackle them head-on. However, I’m definitely planning to slow down after this whirlwind. “Ginusto mo yan, 'di ba?” Yes. Here’s to embracing challenges and celebrating growth—a toast with a cocktail of medications! Cheers! 😄
