Crappppp

Holy crap! I’ll be attending a seminar/workshop in one of the hospitals under the company I work for. And it’s all the way in Quezon Province. That’s a nine-hour trip from home. Huhuhu.

Here’s the twist: we’ll be staying in the hospital’s patient rooms. Don’t worry, no patients in that floor. Those rooms just aren’t being used at the moment, so they’re letting us crash there. Still, I can’t help but wish they’d just let us book a hotel, especially since we’re paying for this.

I checked delivery apps, but the nearest restaurants and fast-food chains are at least 30 minutes away. I even scouted the area on Google Maps and Street View, and OMG… no private vehicle for me, no cabs in sight either.

Since I’ll basically be an alien in the area, commuting alone just to explore doesn’t sound like the best idea. Wahhhh. WELP. Definitely not the kind of work travel I had in mind. I love my friends from the South, but I really am not a southie! Long car rides are not for me. Remote areas are not for me. This trip is going to test my patience and my survival skills.

Catalyst

Today, I was at the right place, at the right time, and bumped into the right person (Oh, but not in a romantic situation)— Someone who shared words of wisdom I truly needed.

I was running work errands at a referral hospital when I crossed paths with one of my favorite doctors. I heard a familiar voice, turned, and there he was! Oh, that nostalgic feeling—the familiarity and comfort arriving just when I was burnt out and needed to vent. A simple kumusta quickly turned into a muntik-nang-umiyak-akala-mo-nasa-inuman-session. 😆

I remembered how our nose-problem consults often turned into free life coaching and, somehow, therapy.

I believe we don’t meet people by accident; every encounter has a purpose. It’s often the small, unexpected moments that become catalysts for the big decisions in life.

Birds Suddenly Appear

So, my friends have been trying to low-key set me up with their friends. I get that they mean well, but seriously—it's not normal for some random guy, a total stranger, to show up at the lab as a patient, give me this weird “I know you” kind of smile (way more than just polite), and then add me on Facebook a few days later. I’m good at remembering faces, especially when they’re acting all strange.

I always say the right person will show up at the right place and time, but this? Definitely not what I had in mind. 😆 The hospital is not the spot. Nope nope nahhh.

Still, I don’t want to be rude to my friends or their friends. So I just laugh about it.

Am I being too picky?

Oh, and another bird has been showing up a lot lately. Talk about signs from the universe, huh?

Honestly, I’m just not in the mood to meet new people or get to know them. I don’t think I have the time.
